Friday Church Plant Prayer Post for July 30

"God does nothing except in response to believing prayer." John Wesley

We are looking ahead to what God is going to do at our first monthly service. Help us get the word out to family, friends, and neighbors who live in the Huber Heights or surrounding area. Our first monthly service for the new church in Huber Heights will be Sunday, September 12 at 10am at the Hampton Inn on Merily Way. Check out www.daytoncrossroads.com for more details.

If you would like to be part of future events, please contact me by emailing me here, checking out our Events page, or by connecting on our new church Facebook page.

Prayer Requests:
  1. Truck and Trailer. Please be praying that God provides a dependable, inexpensive (preferably free) pickup truck and trailer for use in outreach events and moving of the church supplies.
  2. Be praying for launch team members. We need many people to catch fire for the vision of this church, join us, and help us get up, running, and making a difference in the lives of people in Huber Heights. We are praying for God to provide someone who has a passion to help children know God and grow closer to Him.
  3. Pray for God openings in people's lives. We want to be a church that reaches lost people...so we need God to create opportunities for us to meet them and share His love with them.
  4. Be praying for our first monthly service on Sunday, September 12 at 10am at the Hampton in Huber Heights. Please pray for people to attend and for God to move in their lives, even at this early stage, to accept God's love and salvation. Also be praying  for our follow-up of our guests that out of this group others will sign on as volunteers and launch team members. I am praying that God would give us an attendance of 30+ people for our first monthly service. Please also pray that God supplies the money for the rental and the equipment we need.
  5. Begin praying for our monthly service on October 10th.
Added: For the water in the sprinkler park to begin working properly!

Seinfeld as a Dramatic Movie?

It is amazing what a little editing and change in music will do to the perceived plot of a show. I found this very interesting. This reminds us of the big difference just a little bit of change in our atmosphere can make for people who listen to our sermons, attend our churches, and read our writing.

Friday Church Plant Prayer Post for July 23

“It is for us to pray not for tasks equal to our powers, but for powers equal to our tasks, to go forward with a great desire forever beating at the door of our hearts as we travel toward our distant goal.” Helen Keller

Last week we blitzed the area with 20 teenagers from Grace Church in Powell, Ohio. Thanks to Mark and the gang for all they did. We gave groceries to 70+ families, gave out 6 cases of water bottles (chilled of course!), and 150+ ice cream bars and Popsicles.

Band Aids and Social Justice

Every summer thousands of children attempt to ride their bikes without receiving serious injuries. Most fall, and their skinned knees and cement-burned elbows require the application of a popularly themed band aid.

While band aids are perfect for small injuries, they are useless for larger injuries which may require stitches, bandages, and hospital stays. Problems occur when someone attempts to use band aids to fix injuries requiring more intensive procedures.

Social Justice is a hot topic for the church; especially after one news entertainer recommended people leave their churches for even using the word. Most churches find themselves putting band aids on wounds requiring extensive treatments. Many open shelters, feeding kitchens, and job banks attempting to ease suffering, but these are band aid fixes for more complicated problems. Issues such as poverty, homelessness, and unemployment require not only the band aids, but also more intensive procedures for true healing to take place.

Real social justice happens when people treat wounds and treat the systems and structures causing the problems. No one was ever martyred for helping the poor, but many have been killed for standing against the structures and systems that create the oppression. People get crucified for trying to heal the system that cause the wounds in the first place.

Our First Monthly Service

The first monthly service for Crossroads Vineyard Church will be held on Sunday, September 12 at 10:00am at the Hampton Inn in Huber Heights. It is located at 5588 Merrily Way Huber Heights, Ohio.

Our services are casual and fun...so come as you are (no ties or perfect people allowed!). There will be plenty of great coffee, an opportunity to meet new friends, and a chance to catch a glimpse of where we are going as we work toward a new church in Huber Heights. This will be a family service with no separate childcare provide. However, we will have some things for your children to do while they participate in the service.

Also, soon I will be announcing the location for our first monthly service on September 12! Be sure to check out the rest of our the new Huber Heights Church website at www.daytoncrossroads.com.
